
While gamers’ eyes remained as devoted to the achievements Titanfall 2 and Final Fantasy XV Monday, one three-year-old game slipped quietly in the annals of gaming history.
Grand Theft Auto V, an essential and commercial juggernaut since its September, 2013 release, claimed its spot atop their list of all-time best-selling video games in great britain using more than 6 million physical copies sold.
“The U.K. games sector is usually a global success story,” said Jo Twist, CEO of gaming trade group U.K. Interactive Entertainment, in the Monday blog post. “We are really a comparatively young industry punching beyond our weight to the international field, and Grand Theft Auto V is a prime type of how- globally renowned titles are making a very important contribution to your U.K.’s reputation as the administrators, our economy, job creation and cultural identity.”
More than 70 million copies of Grand Theft Auto V have crossed real-world and virtual checkouts all over the world for the reason that game first hit shelves, allowing it to be the fourth-best-selling video gaming historical. But nowhere does its success shine more brightly versus its contributions towards the U.K. economy, Twist said.
The game has generated nearly $300 million for British retailers during its life, and around $60 million in sales tax to your U.K., sales figures show.

Only Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, FIFA 17, Battlefield 1 and Watchdogs 2 sold more copies than Grand Theft Auto V a while back.
Much of these long-term success is probable because of Grand Theft Auto V’s continued developer support C developer Rockstar has pushed out new content every quarter or so because game’s debut.
